Ribbon Cut on New $40 Million Sheetz Building & 300+ Jobs

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Sometimes in economic development, you need a little luck. The Altoona Blair County Development (ABCD) Corporation, Blair County and the entire mid-Atlantic region for that matter, is very lucky that the Sheetz family just happened to live here, starting small, growing over the years, and overcoming challenges along the way. But they kept-on keeping-on – reinventing themselves and staying more than a few steps ahead of the competition. We are very lucky for that happening here for sure.

This week, ABCD joined with the Sheetz family to cut the ribbon on their newest building – the Sheetz Operations and Training Center located on their corporate campus in the Marasco Business Park. This is another major expansion milestone for both the Sheetz family and their very large extended corporate family – Blair County’s largest private sector employer. The building’s design is not only meant to create a great-place to work, but also a place people will want to be, to work creatively and contribute the next big idea in a Class A environment. The building sets a new standard for office space design in our region. Buildings like this and the spaces they offer are a critical part in the efforts to attract and retain the best and brightest talent we all need to keep our businesses and community growing.

Former ABCD President Marty Marasco (for whom the business park is named) and the ABCD team worked diligently with the past three Governors, the Governor’s Action Team, Department of Community and Economic Development, the U.S. Economic Development Administration, all our elected officials and many private sector capital campaign investors to ensure this site was “Made-to-Order” for Sheetz –  so for that, we also say thank you – it simply would not have been possible without all of them.

Thank you to the entire Sheetz Family for being here, staying here, and for keeping us all fed and fueled at all hours of the day. For the full story click here.
