Marty Marasco Recipient of 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award for Business Excellence
On June 13, 2016, Marty Marasco, Pres/CEO of ABCD Corp., was the 15th recipient of the Blair County Chamber of Commerce’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Business Excellence. The award recognizes a Blair County business person who has enjoyed an outstanding business career and made a positive impact on the community.
Marasco, who retired this year after 22 years in charge and more than 40 years in economic development, is a very worthy recipient of the award, said Chamber Pres/CEO Joe Hurd.
“When you think about people in our county who personify business excellence, Marty Marasco’s name should always be at or near the top of the list. The nominations that we received for Marty, however, spoke as much to his character and love for his family as it did to his outstanding work. Marty’s reputation statewide has been well documented, particularly within the economic development
community. No one does or has done economic development better,” Hurd said. “Blair County has benefited tremendously from Marty’s ability to build consensus on projects and to see those projects through to completion.”
Marasco called the award an “extraordinary honor.” “I am truly proud and excited by this recognition. In reviewing the list of previous recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award, it reads like a Who’s Who of Pennsylvania, and I am extremely humbled to be associated with this truly outstanding group of individuals,” Marasco said.
Marasco said many others are responsible for him receiving the award. “I realize that without a team of outstanding people who have stood by and supported me, the accomplishments that I am being
recognized for could not have occurred,” Marasco said. “My career and tenure at ABCD Corp. and its processor, Altoona Enterprises Inc., have given me immense pride and satisfaction in working with a truly outstanding team of individuals, organizations, institutions, government officials and business clients who are totally committed to improving the quality of life within our community and the region.”
