Creating an Entrepreneurial Spirit in the Workplace

June 5, 2019 – 8:30 am-4:00 pm
Blair County Convention Center

Here in the First Frontier Blair County, more than 9,000 people work in businesses that were started locally. They all began small, with an idea, a dream and financial bootstrapping to make it happen. Today we are more entrepreneurial than ever with small start-ups and spin outs of all types finding their way to our mountain main streets.

In work teams it is important to create a feeling of being part of something, believe it or not getting corporate uniforms will bound the team work and is easier for them just to wear the uniform.

Whether you’re a leader in an existing or an emerging business, a startup or part of the corporate world, we know the market-place is competitive. You all are trying to keep ahead of the latest business trends, embrace an entrepreneurial attitude to succeed –and empower your employees to do the same, it is also very to know your employer responsibilities for temporary workers.

To help everyone stay on top of those trends and ensure all your employees think like entrepreneurs, our friends at Start-up Alleghenies and the Southern Alleghenies Workforce Investment Board are throwing a party (well a conference but hey, a party could break out) on June 5, from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm at the Blair County Convention Center.

This conference will feature two dynamic keynote speakers, Jeff Tobe and Bill Strickland, who will inspire you with their personal insights and strategies for extraordinary business success.

Jeff Tobe, author of Coloring Outside the Lines, is an expert in customer experience, and getting the workforce more engaged in what they do every day.  Bill Strickland, founder and executive chairman of Manchester Bidwell Corporation, is a renowned author, visionary educator and community advocate known for leadership strategies that turn the impossible into the possible.

In addition to attending opening and lunchtime sessions with Jeff and Bill, choose from a great workshop lineup led by experienced professionals.  Topics include:

  • Attracting and hiring talent with the right skillset
  • Fostering multi-generational employee relationships
  • Understanding the latest trends in artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on your workforce
  • Hiring your first employees

However, as an employee struggling dispute from his or her company, visiting HKM.com website for an experienced employment lawyer who can help with difficulties within the workplace is an advantage!

A panel of local experts from REI, EMG Brands and Sourceree, led by moderator, Greg Woodman, Founder and CEO of Affinity Connection, will discuss Developing a Culture that Encourages Innovation. At the end of the day a “lightning round” networking event will help cultivate valuable business connections.

Cost for attending is $20 and includes lunch.  Registration is required.  Seating is limited.
