The Agriculture Committee of the Altoona Blair County Development Corp is continuing our nationally recognized event for middle school students in Blair County. Our last two events were a big success and we can’t wait to continue for our 3rd annual event!
The Agriculture Career Day event will be open to all 7th graders in Blair County public school districts (approximately 1,400 students). The event is scheduled to take place on May 1st and 2nd 2018 at Kulp Family Dairy in Martinsburg. We expect the event to be held between 8:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
The goal of Agriculture Career Day is to make the Blair County 7th graders aware of the vast array of careers available in the Agriculture Industry. The Career stations will include the following four categories:
- Animals – (Veterinary, Nutrition, Genetics and Integrated Agriculture)
- Crops – (Equipment, Management and Greenhouse)
- Management – (IT, Accounting/Lending, Marketing and Farm Management)
- Environmental – (Engineering, Agronomy/Soil Sciences and Ag. Building)

We thank all of our contributors to this event. In particular we would like to thank:
The Professional Dairy Producers Foundation for their generous grant towards the 2017 event. The PDPF was established by dairy producers as a vehicle to raise funds and award grants for educational programs within dairy communities. For more information please visit www.dairyfoundation.org
