On May 10, 2016, The Altoona-Blair County Development Corporation (ABCD Corp.) held a dedication event for the Martin J. Marasco Business Park in Claysburg, Blair County, PA. Stakeholders further celebrated groundbreaking ceremonies for Central States Manufacturing, Inc. (Central States) and the Sheetz Store Operations, Learning Center and Daycare Complex (Sheetz). The Central States and Sheetz projects will both be located in the Marasco Business Park and represent one-third of the park’s developable land.
“This is an historic day for Blair County and the I-99 Corridor Region,” said Marty Marasco, Pres/CEO of ABCD Corp. “At our groundbreaking ceremony 288 days ago we said that this business park was vital to creating opportunities for new business locations as well as expansions of current companies in Blair County. Today we have our proof as we welcome Central States to Blair County and celebrate the expansion of Sheetz. Combined, these two outstanding companies will invest over $45 million in their projects while creating and retaining hundreds of jobs for Blair County.”
The ribbon cutting and groundbreaking ceremonies included remarks from Representative Judy Ward, Blair County Commissioner Bruce Erb, Neil Weaver from the PA Dept. of Community and Economic Development, John Williams from Central States, Joe Sheetz from Sheetz, and ABCD Corp. representatives.
The Marasco Business Park is ABCD Corp.’s eighth business/industrial park in Blair County and represents 95 acres of developable land situated off Interstate 99 and adjacent to Walter Business Park, home to the Sheetz Distribution Center, Sheetz Brothers Kitchen and the Sheetz Shwellness Center. This $7.5 million project included; acquisition, access improvements, road construction, extension of water, sewer, electricity and natural gas services onsite, stormwater management, wetland mitigation and site preparation.

The company will construct a 50,000 sq/ft manufacturing and warehousing facility on over 8 acres in the Marasco Business Park. Their $5.8 million project will create 50 new, full-time jobs over the next three years. “We are excited to partner with Blair County to continue our growth of metal building components into Pennsylvania,” Tim Ruger, VP of Operations, Central States said. “While we currently deliver into Pennsylvania, our new location in Claysburg will allow us to better serve our customers through shorter turnaround and a faster response time. We believe each location should connect and contribute to the surrounding community and we look forward to helping serve in Blair County.”
